Standard smart pet feeders and cameras use 2.4 GHz WiFi only. A WiFi outage means the product drops offline until the router is restored. For reliability-focused premium buyers, this is unacceptable.

This model adds a 4G LTE cellular modem as a backup connection. When the home WiFi drops, the feeder automatically switches to cellular for alerts, video streaming, and remote control.
